1 | Special message from Canopy president regarding NAR settlement agreement and practice changes 

Charisma Southerland, 2024 president of Canopy Realtor® Association and Canopy MLS, recorded this message to provide an update from the National Association of Realtors® Legislative Meetings in Washington D.C.
 
Learn more about the proposed NAR settlement agreement, the time frame for complying with the terms of the agreement, and when Canopy will be implementing the mandatory practice changes no later than Sat., Aug. 17.  She also announces upcoming dates for Broker-in-Charge Briefings, General Membership Meetings, and a Town Hall to keep members and subscribers updated and prepared for these changes.

2 | Virtual BIC Briefings: Legal Update/Practice Changes Resulting from NAR Settlement and Preparing for the Future 

This event is for brokers-in-charge of firms ONLY (Designated Realtors®/Member Participants).
 
Anne Marie DeCatsye, CEO, and Michele McCaskill, VP of Risk Management and Assistant General Counsel will discuss the impact of the lawsuits, NAR’s required practice changes to take effect on Sat., Aug. 17, compliance with the practice changes, and navigating compensation.
 
Other key topics include the value of the MLS and its relevancy beyond compensation, the status of forms and changes, what Realtors® can do to articulate their value, and the benefits of belonging to local, state, and national associations.

(Realtors® Engaging and Creating Hope) is an annual, hands-on group community service experience created by Canopy Housing Foundation. Join fellow Realtor® members on Wed., June 12, from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and engage in a planned volunteer activity at one of five different nonprofit organizations that impact the Charlotte area. Afterward, celebrate the day’s experience over lunch with all volunteers and the Foundation staff!
