A good leader is one that can influence and transform other people’s lives. They can motivate and inspire individuals. A leader should behold vision, passion, and courage; all while encompassing, integrity, transparency, and humility. A good leader is one who leads with a servant leader’s heart.

As an organization that leads by example, Canopy Realtor® Association should embrace our growth, inclusion, innovation with new technology, marketing and educational resources, and our connection to the community. My vision is to boost untapped membership engagement and increase serving to advocate for our industry. I want members to know they have a voice and how to be a part of the change they want to see.
A Few Words from Charisma ...
I am Charisma Dockery Smith, and I am running for the esteemed position of President Elect. I moved to the Queen City in 1990 to attend college. After graduating, I decided to make Charlotte my home. I have been a Realtor® for over 20 years, and I have an exceptional passion for our industry and in advancing the profession.
As a leader:
- I am an active listener who values people’s abilities. I am always seeking to establish strong relationships and develop new ones.
- I believe in strong, honest communication. I’m committed to serving our industry to better understand the needs of our members.
- I believe in collaboration and inclusion. It takes all of us to make a difference.
As an active servant leader within our industry and community since 2006 - at various levels at the association and MLS, Housing Foundation, and most recently on the executive board - I understand how to advance and grow Canopy. I want to be your influential leader that can show how supportive and effective Canopy is to its members by inspiring trust and confidence.
With over 20 years of industry experience, I am your fellow practitioner; I understand the ever-evolving real estate industry. I ran my own boutique real estate company for over 17 years before joining an independent brokerage in 2018. I understand the unique challenges of owning your own company, selling real estate, managing properties and keeping up with technology. I know the daily wins and losses. I have lived through the ups and downs of the industry. I am a true partner that wants to walk this journey with you, advocate for you, serve your needs, and seize opportunities to find solutions.
