2 | Get the facts about the legal landscape: Request a legal landscape presentation 

Anne Marie DeCatsye, CEO, and Michele McCaskill, VP of Risk Management and Assistant General Counsel, are making presentations to firms in person and virtually. The presentation provides an overview of the current legal landscape, the impact the NAR lawsuits will have on the industry, and Canopy Realtor® Association, what the future could look like for both organizations, as well as the importance of demonstrating to consumers, the value the Realtor® brings to each real estate transaction.

4 | Elected officials informed about Realtors® commitment to Fair Housing Month  

Canopy and REBIC sent a letter signed by Charisma Southerland, 2024 President, to elected officials in Mecklenburg, Iredell and Haywood Counties to demonstrate Realtors® commitment to fair housing and how Realtors® are honoring the Fair Housing Act this year: 
  • Realtors® are Connecting: By attending conversations such as the National Fair Housing Alliance education session hosted by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations, featuring keynote speaker, Joshua V. Barr Esq. 
  • Realtors® are Learning:  By taking courses offered by Canopy Real Estate Institute like NAR’s certification class “Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing, NAR’s Fairhaven: A Fair Housing Simulation Training, and NAR’s At Home with Diversity Course. 
  • Realtors® are Volunteering:  By volunteering for Realtors® Care Day, where more than 350 Realtors® spent a full day at 16 sites across Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Haywood Counties making critical home repairs and a difference in the lives of their neighbors. 
  • Realtors® are Nominating:  By assisting a nonprofit that is addressing unmet housing needs to submit a Community Grant application to Canopy Housing Foundation. The Foundation’s Community Grants and Habitat Grants programs provide annual financial support to area nonprofits.  
Here is a letter sent to Mayor Zeb Smathers, of Canton, NC (Haywood County). Similar letters were sent to various elected officials in both Mecklenburg and Iredell Counties.

NAR’s Military Relocation Professional Certification Virtual Course
NAR’s Military Relocation Professional Certification core course will teach participants how to provide real estate services at any stage in a service member's military career, help meet the needs of this niche market and win future referrals.
  • Successful completion of this course provides four hours of North Carolina real estate continuing-education elective credit.

Learn the ins and outs of the electronic closing process and earn CE credit.
eClosings are here and your clients want to know more about it. The eClosings course will assist brokers in becoming familiar with the electronic closing process and understanding the benefits to all parties involved in the transaction.
